Input to process to symptom. All these terms like inflammation, exercise, fatigue, sleep disturbance, fight or flight all are this confusing jumbled interconnected mess. How do we untie it and make it easier to understand? These terms are associated with a certain place in a sequence. Inputs are what we are exposed to. Inputs or lack of inputs: food, air, sunlight, human connection, thoughts. Processes are how our body operates and reacts to the inputs we give it: inflammation, digestion, sympathetic or parasympathetic shifts, cytokine release, lymphatic flow, fight or flight response. The symptoms are our lived experience: fatigue, energized, frustrated, hot flashes, stomach ache, panic attack.
