The immune system is to inflammation as a car is to driving. Inflammation is what the immune system does. The destination addressing the threat or removing the old: pathogens, parasites, toxins, damaged cells, cancer, cell debris. So it’s two main jobs are fighting pathogens and removing old and damaged cells.
